Default Chance to buy 2002 Regal LS

Hello all,

I took a 2002 Buick Regal LS in on trade today that appears to have transmission issues. Fluid is nice and pink, doesn't smell bad and doesn't appear to be burnt in any way. After researching for many hours online, it seems to be only a few possibilities.
1. Catalytic converter
2. Motor mounts
3. Torque converter clutch solenoid
4. 2-3 shift solenoid
5. transmission valve body
6. Pressure control solenoid

Any of these can cause the symptoms, which are a hesitation to shift, loss of power and a general sense of "boggyness" (very technical term). Car has 89,900 miles and is just gorgeous. Shifting issue is the only downside to this car.

I can pick it up for $1500. Seriously thinking of buying it to fix and resell. Any thoughts would be greatly appreciated.

TPS/Maf and a general tune up can also cause the bogginess and shifting issues.

Thanks Bill. We completed the trade in today so tomorrow I'll find out exactly what I buy it for, after I drive it myself and decide if I really want to tackle it. I'm really just looking for a project that I can make a few bucks on.

My father-in-law had a Regal with a plugged Cat.. the transmission would free rev like it was driving through the torque converter. I thought for sure it was the torque converter, but they replaced the cat and it was back to normal.

Nice! If you could pick that up for $1500 it sounds like a steal. I'd almost hold on to it for myself = P

Had the same issue on my 01 Camaro. Plugged cat was the problem.

It got so bad on the way to the dealer to fix it that I went to take off from the light 1 black down, and I had to drive with my foot to the floor to get 15 mph our of it.

It amazing how many problems one failed part can cause.
