Buick Century Wont Crank
Buick Century 2005 Its never had any trouble except the lights, multifunction and dimmer switch and it had to sit for like two years but it was covered the entire time. Bought a new battery and put it on and it cranked after I gave it fresh gas and all that. Changed both switches that needed to be changed. After installing the multifunction switch it would crank and then it stopped. Tried to crank it too many times and the starter smoked a bit. So I replaced the starter. Wont do anything except click. At first after the last time it cranked it would click one time and then the starter happened after changing it and recharging the battery now everything will come on like normal but when you try to crank it it clicks multiple times. The wiring harness under the steering wheel where the multifunction switch connects is the only point of interest I can think because that'* the only thing that'* had been worked on. And I changed all the fuses after I did the switches so i know it'* not that either. Did i possibly mess up putting on the starter or what else could possibly be the issue? Please if anyone could help I'd really appreciate it.
Alright, so after I click it. The lights will dim and it will act like its slowly regaining power back to being ready to crank after a couple times it acts like the battery is dead. Even though I got it on a trickle charger and it'* a brand new battery. And what would cause low voltage to the starter? When I put the new one on I noticed that the two bigger wires I connected and the smaller wire that I also connected were close to each other possibly touching but I couldn't exactly tell. And how would you fix low voltage going to the starter?
So the chassis ground is near the backside of the starter? I cleaned the ground by the battery and when I get off work I'm gonna do the chassis ground too and make certain that the starter is on properly. When I hooked it up there was the small wire that attached to the starter on the small post. Then there was two connectors like battery connectors that were attached to the old starter so I put them on the new one. Does that sound right?

You probably ruined the high amp cables for the battery. They can get to hot and it effects their ability to pass current efficiently even after cooling down. It makes them more resistive.
What you mean high amp cables? And can I rerun these cables? I cleaned the starter leads and everything and I put the starter back on. Can't really do anything else with it right now because of this weather were having i live in Louisiana and its iced over and snowing daily so waiting on that to clear up and I'll be back at it.
