Default Brake Pads Replacement

Thanks guys for your responses. I'm ready to make change and replacement on my car. First, I will replace my brake pads because the car makes squeaky noises while braking. The problem is I dont know which place is the right one - the front or the rear. My car is Buick Regal Custom 1996 V6 3.8L.. I already bought front brake pads because I assumed that it is the front that needs replacement and because the front wheel has lots of dust than the rear. However, my sister'* boyfriend told me that I bought the wrong one and should bought the rear ones instead of the front.. I was like "WTF!!!".. He told me that it is the front wheel so thats what I bought, and he said rear brakes are parking brakes. And now he'* gonna say that I have to exchange it and get the rear ones. And when I tried to tell him, he got mad.. I'm so pissed.. dh2 I might be wrong but why would he say something if he'* not sure about it.. I hate buying something and at the end returning it or exchanging it.

Squeaking should be fronts due to the wear tabs...Thats is usually the culprit of the sound you hear..rear brakes yes have are parking brake but that is not their only purpose they are brakes that do help stop your car
