Default AC leaking

I have a ac compressor slow leaking on a 97 park avenue that I add freon once a month when the drivers side warms up. I'm out of auto repair now after 40 years. Waiting on cooler weather to pull the compressor and just needed to know how well reasealing them works over new at $240 or rebuilt At $100. I worked in the highest paid section of Charlotte NC and never resealed one but thinking it might be worthwhile since the complete kit is less than $20 and might be fun. I have all the clutch tools and front seal tools from the 90'*. Thanks ahead for your views it is bright green dyed at every segment in the case but still pumping good. Leonard
