Hmm I don't know what that is.

It has an obd2 scanner port, not the obd1 where you have to short the 2 terminals to get the check engine light to flash codes.

No cover on the obd2 port came with it.

When would one use a wire to short terminals in an obd2 port?

No code flashing in OBDII. You need a scanner.

thats not why I asked, there were a lot of odd 94-96, possibly 97 98(doubt anything past that) from buick line up that had DLC shorting bars to be used when not doing diagnostics because the shaky integration with ABS, restraint systems, traction, etc. I know that there was a TSB for lesabre/park avenue in like 93-94,95 that the shorting bar was a service kit because without it the ABS system wouldnt properly intialize because there would be codes that pre-empt the initialization but they were set because funny software and integrating teves mk i4 stuff into the cars

They not long after fixed the issue so it wasnt every car, but i just wanted to make sure to his knowledge he never had one.

I guess depends on if its an actual OBD2 port. yours most definitely is, but not all obd2 port cars are obd2 and not all 96 vehicles are obd2 etc etc, so to know its obd2 you can always check the VECI underhood, it will affirmatively state OBD2 compliance or it will contain wording that doesnt say obd2, but says applicable obd or regulations to the __ model year, those are things that are partially compliant

Wow very good to know thanks guys.

My 96 15 pass ford van has an obd2 port but it is not obd2 because the heavy gvrw exempted it from being obd2 compliant.
Really confused me when I first bought it and was a bit disappointed as well.

it has the obd1 test connectors under the hood.
