3800 oil pan gasket
Hang on ....???
The OP has a 99 PA, that'* what we are talking about and I've only found type one gasket in the past. Thought it was cool that a second was mentioned. The one I have seen is a plastic windage tray version. Reason being...the pan is wide open and needs a windage tray. Looking at Rockauto..they all look pretty much alike.
The 2000+ cars had more than one gasket type. Well, kinda. The windage tray was bolted into the aluminum pan and therefore only a surface gasket to the block was required. There was a groove cut in some of the aluminum oil pans for an inlaid piece of rubber that worked awesome. I had this on my car. Then there was another version that used Engine Sealant as a gasket. No actual gasket was required, only the sealant.

Bought a test engine. had 7000 miles on it. Real skinny, tall injectors is the only difference i noticed, until it blew up 1000 miles later. */C 3800 out of a 2001 regal.
Soon as i got it home, i took the oil pan off. it was so clean. I thought i was good. Put my Bonneville pan on there and in it went. Well, once it started that nasty sound of a bearing grinding away.
Anyways, pulled the engine apart and 2 of the strangest things. 1) not one of the pistons had the top ring on it. Yea, that'* right... 2) there was some nasty silicone like crap that got caught in the oil pump pick up tube, so i get pissed and toss it. After all, they all are the same part, or so i thought. I got a new Melling one for less than $20, but its about an inch too long!!! The oil pan just teeders on the damn thing. went to the dealer and 3 local auto parts, no one has ever heard of such a thing. I also grabbed on off another 3800 i had and its the same this. What the hell were they testing, and where can i buy a custom or exact fit tube??? Any thoughts anyone!!!

BillBoost37, you are so right.
Mine is a 99 GP GT with that damn horseshoe mount, not a fun or fast replacement.
I made the mistake and forgot to pull the sensor. Yes, I snapped the end off and now have to purchase a new one.
