I went for the 215/55Z-17 looks great and still rides like a cadillac

How'd that combo (17") affect handling? As I mentioned, I don't care about the visual appeal (my opinion, not yours, of course).

Didn't at all, the stock combo is 215(i think)/60/16 so adding and inch to the rim and less 5 on the wall height rides just like stock and fills the wheel well out perfect, pops has the same car and went with the 50 series and the ride is a little ruff and looking at them side by side the look to small for a full sized sedan

So you are saying the 17" did NOT improve handling....even a little?

Well with the small increase in rim size and lowering in tire size wouldn't expect much, but at the same time I drive her pretty easy like she was meant to be driven, can't say I've been stunt driving or anything
