Default 2005 Buick Lasabre

Hello I am going to buy another Buick

It'* a 2005 Buick Lasabre with faulty transmission, 3.8 v6 engine.

First question it'* this engine compatible with the transmission of a Pontiac Firebird 1999 3.8 v6 1999 ?

Second, where can I find a compatibility list about GM transmission ?

Third.... any recall on this car'* transmission ?

Wait, what is your question exactly? Yes, the v-6 engine is the same in the Buick and the Firebird with the exception of the intake manifold. Will the transmission from a Firebird fit in a Buick? No.

And not sure on the compatibility of the trans. Its a common 4T65-E trans.

I am swapping engine and trans from a firebird 1999 v6 3.8 since i wires they caught on fire. I though I could maybe reuse the trans on the car I am going to buy ( 2005 Buick La Sabre ) with broken trans.

which year and cars use a 4T65-E trans. I live in Hawaii so my options are very limited. cost of rebuilt .. way too expensive, online websites shipping too expensive, ebay shipping to expensive so I gotta try to reuse some other car'* transmission

btw, thank you so much for you help !

Firebirds are rear wheel drive. Buicks front wheel drive.

I believe 1997-2005 is your year range for the 4T65-E. Try to stay with the same make and model. If your options are limited due to that factor, you can get one from most Pontiacs, Buicks, Oldsmobiles. But the final drive ratio may be different. Not so much to cause issues, just might make your speedo off a couple MPH.
