Default 2004 Lesabre. Chugging and rW gas smell

Car runs fine when started cold. Can drive it for an hour. No problem.
ONLY when the car is shut off, go into a store, come out and restart it, starts chugging and smelling like raw fuel.
and it’* hard to even keep it running sometimes. After I drive it for a couple blocks it smooths out and it runs fine.

A marginal coil can do this when it is getting tired. The heat cooks it then it does weird stuff until cooled a bit.

ICM as well, for that matter.

Gas smell points to purge valve. Clamp off the valve and see.
