I have a 2000 Buick Park Avenue that has been running beautifully until recently. Recently the car has started to make a scraping noise most noticeably while turning left, going silent while turning right, and intermittently while going straight. Also, a noticeable amount of vibration has begun to develop while traveling at highway speeds. Since these problems have developed, I have done a brake job and replaced both front tie rod ends, which both needed to be done, but has had little effect on these problems.

After looking around a bit online, my initial thoughts are that I need to replace a wheel bearing. Anyone else have any thoughts?

sounds like a wheel bearing, some people say grab ahold of the tire and try to wiggle it but ive always had a bunch of noise way before the wheel would wiggle the slightest

and if you are going to do one you might as well do both because the other wont be far behind

I agree. Sounds like the front right wheel bearing. It takes the most lateral pressure when turning left.

it could be a wheel bearing or a strut mount, these problems are very common in buicks, yours is most likely a wheel bearing but if not get your strut mounts looked at.

Sounds to me like you've got a bad wheel hub (the hub is one piece and contains the bearing). I had both front hubs go bad on my SLE and I believe the bad hubs also caused my brake rotors to warp.

My left front is bad, and it only makes the noise while turning left. I thought it was the right front when it started making the noise on thursday, but after raising the car and shaking both sides today, the left front had a decent amount of slack, while the right was nice and tight. I always thought it was like you said.

It is like I said. Don't be surprised if you actually have two bad wheel bearings.

With that car, I honestly wouldn't be surprised if both were bad

Thanks for all the suggestions everyone. I replaced both front tie rod ends, all brakes, both front rotors, and both front wheel bearing hub assemblies. I also replaced a rear brake line that I found to be leaking a bit.

At this point I no longer have any highway vibration or any scraping noise coming from the car. However, the car will still pull to the right while braking. When I first started having issues, the pulling was minimal, but lately I feel as if it has gotten worse over time. It happens at all braking speeds, and with winter coming, its making me a bit nervous.

Any suggestions? Strut mounts? Sell the car? (haha)

make sure the tire pressure is the same, did you have it aligned when you put tie rod ends on? no other brake lines or caliper/wheel cylinders leaking? bleed the brakes good when you replaced the line?
