Unhappy '03 Lesabre idle going crazy

"03 Lesabre 3.8L I can't get the idle speed to stabilize. Changed the plugs and wires checked EGR, PVC, and just about everything I could reach, there is a slight vacuum pull from the oil filler hole while running also. What'* happening is the idle speed from start-up is at 900 rpm and gradually increases to over 2000 rpm while the engine is warming up, the idle set screw isn't even touching the throttle..... any help would be appreciated as it'* our only car thanks

the iac controls the idle on your engine, you should clean the code part and where it sits in the throttle body and make sure there are no air leaks there

If your throttle isn't touching the setscrew(which BTW is not user serviceable) then the throttle is sticking partially open. Open the throttle all the way open and let it slap shut with the engine off. Do this a few times. If it closes all the way, you have carbon buildup inside the butterfly plate.

Thanks for the info, I'll try it tomorrow I forgot to mention that this all started for me after filling the tank at an unfamiliar station, I suspected water inthe tank. Would that affect the idle?

Water in the tank normally causes engine to sputter and actually loose rpm, can cause stalling.
Here is the cleaning IAC Link:

As Mike mentioned make sure the butterfly/throttle plate is not sticking as well.
Otherwise the Throttle body really should come off and be cleaned as well.

Unhappy

Tried all of your suggestions and no change. I brought my car to a reputable mechanic last week and they had the car for three days and couldn't find the problem (money down the drain)
Anymore suggestions?

Is the throttle now making contact with the idle set screw now?

Has the throttle body actually been removed and completely cleaned from both sides of the throttle plate? Does the car idle high only in park/neutral, or also in drive (with your foot on the brake so the car'* not moving)?
