Default Warranty work

We had a post awhile back about warranty items, TSB'* and getting them repaired, Personally mine have all been fixed and the cars has been running sweet with no new problems and feeling pretty good about my GXP again. I wondered if everyone else has had their problems taken care of and if any new ones have arisen? My only peeve now is the constant cleaning of my wheels from the dust. But now that I'm on a driving hiatus I will finally get my ceramic pads on. ( The Hud still wiggles a little on dirt roads but I didnt want my entire dash taken apart.) And I lube my new moon roof deflector probably to much so it doesnt jam and break again.

I too have had good results. Changed fog light harnesses & steering intermediate shaft a couple of months ago and all has been good since.

Good question Venom, I have not had any issues since my last dealer visit. Fogs still work and even that trim piece is still on strong. I never had the HUD issue many have had so at least theres hope. The brake dust issue is not really a car defect in my eyes so when the pads go I will replace them with a ceramic type too.

Thats one thing that hasnt happened yet is the intermadiate shaft problem which I keep expecting because of my agressive driving.... While the car (license)is in hiatus I might dig in there and see if a grease zerk can be added. Wonder just what the "Magic Lube" is. Gonna have to get my guitar and a 12 pack out one of these days and write a song about magic lube to the melody of "Magic Bus"

Gonna get out ma grease gun and lube up the shaft
Gonna make it last, so I can go fast...Magic lube ya Magic lube

Ya gotta love GM'* Fixit department. :?

My GXP is sitting at the dealership as I speak. The dealership is reparing the leather seat that had cracked. As well they are re-painting the front bumper. The drivers side of the front bumper had paint flaking off. Also, about a week ago they repaired a leak in the trunk. I had noticed it was a bit wet in the trunk. On the invoice it stated, "complete seam in L/F corner of trunk compartment was missed at factory" While the car is in for the warranty work I asked them to put ceramic brake pads on. They seemed to discourage it at first but the service advisor called me up yesterday and indicated that the went for a ride in my car and there wasnt and brake squeaking anymore. (He told me at first he didnt think ceramic would make a difference).

I had complained about the HUD vibration, however, like Venom I am not thrilled with the idea of having my entire dash ripped apart so I think I will leave it as is.

I am hoping this will be the end to the bad luck with the car. This GXP isnt driven hard and is well taken care of. There is no doubt that I got the Monday or Friday car. Every common problem out there I have had and more.

Also I havent received the extended warranty that I was offered as a result of all my problems. I spoke with the customer satisfaction center about a month ago who called the regional service manager. I was told that he hadnt had time to fill out the paper work (been 2 months now) and that he would be filling it out at the dealership. I called GMPP and there is still nothing on file. The good thing is, is that the warranty offer is on file at the customer satisfaction center. However, I would feel a hell of alot more comfortable once I have the GMPP in my hands.

Are you folks saying that you didn't get ceramic pads as standard equipment?

I'll be very surprised if they aren't....some brands do generate more dust than others.

Default Semi Metallic vs Ceramic

When I was back in the states last year I purchased ceramic pads and had them installed by the Opel dealer here in Berlin. I just wanted to make sure nothing happened with my warranty and Opel is GM. The dust is a distant memory for the most part but I have heard that semi-metallic pads actually provide better stopping power than ceramics. Anyone have any info on that?

Must be a big rim thing cause my BMWs 19" are full of dust after only 2 days of driving.

Dust a huge problem on my mom'* 06 GP GXP. 12" rotors with 18" wheels don't mix well.
