Default Turn Signal Stay On

Hello all-

My driver'* side turn signals stay light constantly, even with the car turned OFF! The left blinkers stopped working while driving yesterday so I assumed it was just the bulb. Changed it even though it was fine. No luck, they stay lit and the right blinker works fine. I pulled the fuse to save the battery. In research I found a similar problem on Grand AMs. They said to replace the hazard module (behind hazard switch). Fortunately, the module is easy to acces on our Bonneys so headed to Pontiac Dealer tomorrow to purchase blinker module. Will this solve it?

Could be a bad plinker switch. You would need to pull it and test it. Check at RockAuto Auto Parts for better prices.

I assume you mean "blinker" switch. This is the same as the hazard switch?

I can't say for sure, GXP is not my area. I'm referring to the one on the steering column.

Broke the hazard switch on my Bravada when I was reinstalling the dash after a Sirius radio hardwire install. Breaking the hazard switch caused turn signal problems. In my case had to replace entire flasher/ turn signal/ cruise control assembly. GM made a hazard only replacement but I could not get the part in time as I had to drive the Bravada and needed an immediate fix.

One clue if it for the sure the hazard is if the problem is present without the ignition turned on. If the problem is not present with the ignition off, you may have want to extend your diag/ isolation.

Thanks for the Bravada example. The lights stay ON with ignition OFF so Hazard switch should be the problem. Hazard swith on GXP is in the middle of the dash. Hopefully I won't have to get into the lever on the column....

The turn signals are wired into the Hazard Module. It sits right behind the Hazard button. The cover pops right off, easy does it and you won't hurt it.

the brake lights and blinkers go through the hazard switch on the dash, it has the relays built into it. they go bad, and its common. replace that it'll solve your problem.

Not a hazard switch to be found in Central PA. Had to order off the web so the wait continues...
