Thanks for the explanation Venom. You should work for GM you know a hell of alot more than they do. I had a hidden hitch put on the Grand Prix. For towing the boat rougly a mile to the landing once a weekend wont hurt it. It does just fine.

I didnt want a hitch on the Bonneville anyways, but I was curious as to why it couldn't tow. I saw a Buick Lucerne CSX towing a monster boat and the guy said it was no problem.

aaa Now... your gonna give me a big head. (And it'* already 2 sizes too large for my body. ) I 'm no mechanial genius and as I finally devote some time to reading some Caddy forums, there'* alot more to digest. It just 35 years of necessitive maintenance blended with time now to research things. I think GM'* ( and the others as well) biggest problem is they hire Customer service reps who are more people orientated than mechanically inclined.

How does the GP tow?

The Grand Prix tows great. I towed it from the city to the lake and there were no problems (about 50 miles). I just took it really easy and didnt go over 90 kmph (around 45 mph). Left it in 3rd which put the RPM'* around 2000. I was told not to allow it to go into Drive on the highway because then I may have some transmission issues.

If I was towing all the time I would invest in a truck. But I am not getting a gas guzzler for a weekend boat launcher.

Ya I would agree. I leave my Dodge 3500 in 3rd low while towing my boat (8400 lbs on trailer) Otherwise she'* kicks down into it pretty hard anyway all the time.
