I agree about the GXPs low end performance.

Before getting my GXP I had an '02 SSEi. In comparing the performance of each I always felt the stock SSEi would beat the GXP off the line by a little because the supercharger provided instant boost but as soon as the GXP got to 3000RPM it would catch and pass the SSEi.

Thats OK, I like cruising along say at 55-60 on the parkway and WOT into 2nd gear. The engine likes it, I like it. Riced out imports.... not so much.

Yeah I also thought the GXP was slow, I just can't feel it going... But I look at the speedo & I'm always over the speed limit somehow

And John, ricer imports hate anytthing with over 5 bhp

Yeah, we look like easy pickings for the ricers. GXPs are like the old "Q" ships. The only real external clue for those not in the know is the quad exhaust tips.

Funny thing i always have ricer flying by, i barely waste my time on them. They really arent worth the gas the car consumes when i floor it lol

I'm the one that ran 14s. I'm surprised that apparently no one else has done this (mainly because only a handful of GXPs have been run at the track). I think I could get a 14.50 out of it in good air if I could just get a chance to get it back to the track. If anyone makes it to the track, please run premium fuel, preferably for at least a few weeks beforehand. I can't say for certain if that will make a difference, but it can't hurt. With the quality control on the newer vehicles, I am skeptical about factory freaks. I think anyone should be able to run a 14 in one of these cars with some practice runs and decent air.

Funny that Venom mentioned a GTO, as there was a red GTO on the lot when I was looking at the Bonneville (both used, this was in 2006). I didn't need 4 doors, and the price was just a little more for the GTO. But it just looked like a large Chevy Cavalier, and the Bonne was absolutely georgeous. I looked at Charger R/Ts too - they drove great but they just looked like rental cars to me, and were more expensive at that time.

Anyway, I made the right decision. My only major complaint is the (in my opinion) lackluster performance. Seems to be worse in the warmer weather. I always thought the headlights sucked, but I did a HID projector retrofit and solved that problem. Mine's got 71k and has been humming along for quite a while with no issues. I've thought about getting something else, but there is really nothing out there that I can lust after enough to part with the Bonne and shell out the bucks for.

The 3.70 final gear ratio makes the motor ramp up quicker than a Caddy does. I had a little "fun" against a guy with a DTS in the summer. (maybe a 06 or 07) and my GXP totally blew him away right from the get-go. The better torque numbers and those gears I believe helped.
