Pontiac bulliten on 2004 GXP foglight bulbs burning out
Hi everone,I thoght everone one would be interested in this that own 2004 GXPs and burned out foglight bulbs.I have had each one replace at least 6 times by the dealer and told the dealer there was a memo by Pontiac on this that I read on this Bonneville club site so they looked it up on their computor and it said there was indeed a problem with 2004 GXPs and for the dealer to replace the foglamp wire harness and the 2 bulbs and gave the part numbers for these. It also said the bulbs were getting hot and crcking, leaving the gas escape from the Halagon bulbs so I and the dealer figured the bulbs were getting too much current and they corrected it with this harness. So anyone that has a 2004 GXP and are having troubles might want to go to the dealer and have them look this up and get it replaced.Hope this helps.I know I was getting tired goin to the dealer every 2-3 months and getting these bulbs replaced.

I've heard of the problems with the 04 model, I wonder if the 05'* are having the same problem? I only know of one member with the 05 model but I can't quite remember if he had any problems as well.

I think they had the problem fiixed by the time the 05s came out.Im pretty sure the bulliten said only the 2004s.Maybe the replcement harness is a 2005.

The problem exist for both years and there are numerous posts about this issue....Two are on this forum page.....One that we've been using two posts below this one? The bulbs pull to much current for the Harness to handle not the other way around...voltage drop causes the bulb to blow/ or fry harness. (But GM always twists things around like using Updated instead of Replace faulty) The harnesses are they same for both years. And there burning out in each. Us that have been discussing it know of the TSB cballweg, do you know the Bulletin number. GM doesnt like to fix things till they break so there is no recall yet. So If we knew # to throw at Mr.Goodwretch, maybe we can get them fixed before it torch'* the harness.

Dont have bulliten no.You mean the new harness wont fix the problem either? They replaced my passenger side foglight assembly and the bulb has lasted 6 months and still going srong so this last time they replaced the drivers side foglamp assembly and I thought this was the problem with maybe moisture getting in and then I told him about a memo from Pontiac and he brought it up on computor and orderd the foglamp wire harness. He also said his friend bought a 2005 GXP from them and he hasnt had trouble with his ,but maybe he doesnt have his foglamps turned on either.

You misread me dude , yours is COOL now,.. when the problem first came about they just changed the bulbs.....now they have admitted the original harness is to blame , not the bulbs. As a new GXP owner I would like my harness'* replaced before the harness smokes. If you wait for that to happen the wires thar run along the same pathway get hot also and you start suffering voltage drops all along the way. I gotta see mine before the nitrous is obvious and I'm going to try to get them to replace the harness'*(both sides0 and If I had the TSB # or could print it out the better my chances of cooperation. Did they replace both of them for you or only the one that first caused problems?
So many Dealers now wont fix problems unless GM has documented them. But it sounds like the TSB is dealers computer now so I should be OK.The service orders in NY state if there isn't a TSB and they cant simulate the problem YOU pay for shop time-not GM>and somehow I see myself paying $75 and hour for Goober and Gomer Goodwrench staring at my kit foglamps.........waiting for them to blow.....HeHeHeh

I just got back from the dealership and I mentioned the bulletin regarding the fog light harnesses. Like everyone else I have had them burn out a couple of months and I have only had the car for 8 months. I was told that I would have to wait for the fog lights to burn out again and at that point they would correct the problem. What a joke. So I get to waste more of my time taking the car back to the dealership. Then I was told that fog lights werent meant to be on all the time and perhaps use them less. The funny thing is, I rarely use them.

SEE what I mean, and you cant blame the Dealer because of this " If it aint broke or cant be simulated, we (GM) wont reimburse Dealer. It'* a real policy and the service manager already showed me the memo when I wanted them to fix all the plastic panels with the new tape instead of just the one that was falling off the drivers fender. But cballweg'* dealer got him through so I'll try to. I really have to use them all the time. The deer here are so thick, I come home and there like lawn ornaments in my yard.
