Default Passenger side mirror issue

The other day I was driving slowly when I heard a bang and looked over and the passenger side mirror had fallen out and was hanging by the 2 wires feeding the electronics. I stopped and inspected it thinking someone had thrown a rock or something. There were no scrathes, dents, and I had hit nothing. I then looked at the back of the mirror and none of the plastic components or other pieces were broken. I was dumb founded. It looked as if it was just forced out of it'* hold. What had happened?

I went to the local German GM dealer and they were able to re-install the mirror and all seemed well. But apparrently they didn't put it in quite right because it'* range of movement seems off and it doesn't go back to it'* normal position after going from reverse back into drive. It also does not tilt up as far as it used to. I plan on taking it back but does anyone have any idea what might have happened? When I go into reverse, the mirror still tilts downward so you can see the curb but does not return to it'* previous position once you put it back into drive or park like it used to. Any ideas would be much appreciated.

Default Mirror Update

Well the GM dealer her was able to re-install the mirror and then I reset the DIC and everything is working fine again. I have no idea what happened. My only thought is that ther emay have been too much pressure on a spring. Nothing was broken and they just reinstalled the mirror. Once the DIC for tilting the mirror was reset all has worked fine since. Odd.
