Looking for some new shoes for the GXP...The last set of Goodyear Eagles only lasted 30,000 miles. They where great tires for the first 20,000. Not so much after that.

I just replaced my shoes. I had Michelin tires prior to this at 300.00 a pop. They came with the car when I bought it. They were new at the time. I only got 15K out of them. After that time, the tire noise(cupping) was so bad, I couldn't stand it. On snow they were like bald tires. I will never buy Michelin again for this car(18" high performance tires). I had all season Michelins(17") on my SSei(prior car) and loved them. After doing some research, and wanting to go to some type of all season tire, I decided on the Continental pro contact. I am very pleased so far, and the car rides like brand new. At 186.00 per tire, much more reasonable on price. And they have a 50K tread life.

My Eagle GT'* have a 50K tread life but I'm not seeing it, I have did a lot of research on this so far and for some reason tires for this car wear quickly. not sure if its the weight of the car or if its because they are high performance soft tires. Maybe its a combination. I have read reviews on these Eagle GT'* that say they have a great tread life but all of those reviews were smaller size tires on smaller cars. not on a Boat-A-ville..

I average 18-19K per set on the front. Heavy front end, aggressive brakes, soft sport tires. It all adds up. Especially if you burn them here and there,...... and everywhere.

www.tirerack.com is the best place to shop for variety,price, and availability. I wont name a brand. Tires are like women. Everyone has an opinion. Getting 18k per set, I go cheap.

Venom, I agree with what your saying 100%, and I'm seeing a similar tire wear as yourself. But I do want to know what brands other GXP owners are wearing and if they are happy with them. Tire reviews don't mean crap unless they come from drivers of the same cars with similar driving habits. I commute 100 miles a day in my GXP, It see'* a lot of highway action. and living in the Chicago area I see all three seasons, So I'm not a big fan of running the cheapest tires I can find. I want tires work well in all three seasons. If 20K is what I can expect from most tires for this car then these middle of the road Goodyear Eagle GT'* are probaly the ones I'll go back too. They preformed very well for the first 20K. But it doesn't hurt to get feedback from fellow GXP owners.

I really liked my Goodrich g-forces KDWS. Excellent on snow and plenty of grip for the summer. Just a little softer than the OEM Goodyear RSa'*. Which seem to get people gripeing. I liked them fine also, except for the wear. Then I found out nothing wears good on the GXP front. The Original RSa'* are still on the back of the car with just over half the tread life gone at near 48K, I will be retiring them this summer, puting on 4 fresh. What I don't like is the Blizzaks now on the front. Just OK on Snow but chitty on ice. Not impressed for a tire rated "Studless Snow". I bought a full set of "Sunny" Chinese tires with arrogantly agressive "tribal" tread for show and boiling off this summer. Couldn't resist for $62 a peice. This coming winter I'll put the Blizzak'* on the rear and go back to g-Force'* on the front. I liked them in the snow that much.

That confirms my theory on tire reviews for the car you drive, I have friends with small cars that swear by those Blizzaks. Great feed back on the Goodrich KDWS, Those were tires I was looking at also. and I have found that in most cases Discount tire will match Tireracks prices which are probaly the best prices I have found.

And I'm not sure of the difference in the two, except g-Forces have the old style bias lines in them and look good even in the summer. The Blizzaks are good in the snow but I don't know if it'* the radial tread design or a harder compound that makes them suck on ice. I charged up my 1/2 mile driveway 3 winters with the g-Forces without a hitch. 2nd attempt with the new Blizzaks left me half way up the hill and not only did I start sliding in reverse with the brakes on, but gaining speed. Dropped into a ditch, car spun 180 degrees into a snow covered dirt bank. $3400 damage.

Ya, DIscount Tire has good prices as well. I just have had good luck w/TireRack and they send me email alerts for 18" tires when they have clearances. How I got the Sunny'* for $62 a whack. Speedy service as well. The Blizzaks I ordered for $82 a piece (sale) on a Friday afternoon and they were here Monday. They have participating warehouses coast to coast.

Also confirms taste in components for simular cars can be as different as taste in women!

My Bizzak LM-25V'* on all 4 corners have been very satisfying. This is my second season with them on. Each year I've had occassion to be the Company Taxi for a few of the women in the office, hallin 3 passengers in snowstorms. 14" (35.5cm) to 16" (40.6cm) snowfalls tend to scare off the meek, the stupids just auger em into a ditch, and we just rumble on in the Bonnie!

Only run them in the winter, which means 4 to 5 months here in WI. They are mounted on the GXP stock rims and stored that way. Spin balance, precise measurment of tread wear, rotate and re-installed end of Nov 09.

I will be looking to replace the OEM Eagle'* with a sticky summer only spec tire.

I do like Venom'* spin (pun intended) on cheap skins to smolder at will, I'd be overly abusive! The almost worn out OEM Eagle'* are still mounted on my summer Moda chromies in storage, with intent of a smokin photo shoot just prior to re-skinnin the beast.

I'm most of the way through my 2nd set of BFG KDWS'*. I got 49k out of the first set - looks like it will be about the same this time around. I rotate them often - probably every 7-10k. No probs during midwest winters .... handle fine in rain and dry. I will probably get them again this fall.
