Default My '05 Bonneville GXP is overheating, HELP!!

My car instantly starts overheating after about 1 mile of driving. My fans aren't kicking on at all. What is my problem? What should I replace? Please no emails telling me to change the fuses.

what are your symptoms? if you're relying on the temp gauge, then check out all the threads about how bad our gauge clusters are! my temp gauge hasn't worked in 2 years.

i would think to check the thermostat and coolant levels / quality to see if the problem lies there.

It is odd that your fans aren't coming on. As well, that is relatively quick to overheat. Have you verified that the motor and hoses seem very warm when the gauge reads hot?

Sounds like you probably checked the coolant levels, checked the fans for operation and found them non-functional.

It overheats, but you don't get a low coolant warning?
Overheating in one mile is pretty fast/

Every morning for the past couple weeks, I've been getting the low coolant warning. It comes on for a minute of two and I never see it again for the rest of the day: 60-80 miles. It never overheats, and gage stays steady and normal. I finally added a quart of water. We'll see if that takes care of it.

I get the low coolant light occasiomally as well and dont know what to make of it. It comes on just for a couple seconds then its off. Coolant level is fine.

I remember having a coolant light that would come on intermittently on my 93' Grand Prix. I would always check, and the level was fine. I think it was a bad sensor somewhere in the coolant system.
