Default Low idle issue...

It doesn't happen all the time but my 2004 GXP every now and then my idle drops real low along with the volts and oil pressure. Then after a few seconds it dies. I start it up and this happens over and over unless I drive away. When I'm driving nothing happens but only at idle and only every once in a while this happens. Most of the time the car is fine. This is going on for a month or so now. I can tell when its going to happen bc when I slow down my idle doesn't come down right away then when I stop the idle drops under normal and dies. If I leave it sit for a while then start it up its fine.

Now I assume Mass Air Flow sensor...anybody else think different?

Thanks Sam

Oh btw I changed the battery already thinking it might be getting old and it didnt help the problem.

Could be a number of things. Bad PCV valve, bad EGR, dirty throttle body, problem with the TPS, or a vacuum leak.

I had a vacuum leak but fixed that and still same thing. The hose to the side of the air box came off one day.

Vacuum leaks are easy to look for, spray carb cleaner around the lines and listen for a change in RPM. The PCV valve is cheep to replace. Start with those.

I would look a the air filter first. It clogs quickly where the deflection port coming out of the first airbox "sprays" the air into it. Then make sure nothing got beyond the filter and stuck on the MAF. It'* happened to me (rogue leaf) I have my box lid off alot playing with nitrous jetting. Must have left filter lip up a tad once. If none of the obvious, I would suspect the TPS as Dan suggested. We haven't see one bad TPS or MAF here as of yet, but I'm sure as time goes on, it will become an issue. It would help eliminate a lot of guess work if you had the car read for error codes thrown.
