Default I'm looking to buy a GXP - what should I watch out for???

I've got my eye on a 2005 "demonstrator" with 6k miles on it. Never been sold. First, what should I be willing to pay? (sticker says 39.5k, dealer wants 26k with 4k tradein. KBB says 23.5k used) Second, what problems should I look for? Thanks - Steve

Price is high for a 2 year old car, regardless of condition. They have been giving them away,.... but it'* up to the Dealer to decide what his market will bear. Big things that stick out new are: wind deflector breaks as it wants when you close the moonroof, some of us had them removed at the Dealership and didnt even know there was one. Mine broke at 4 months old. Lower body panels come loose. Some of us have had the problem early on and others havent had a problem. There is a TSB about it and a fix. I dont know the time but it was corrected during production. On most 04-05 models the lower fog lamp harness was inadequate and fog lamps burnt out frequently. Make sure both work and if they blow frequently you may have to insist the harness be replaced. It doesnt help that the housing is prone to leaks and some have had blown lamps and corrosion problems because of it. On some GXP'* there have been HUD lighting vibration problems. Others not. A few instances of gauges not functioning right, particulary the gas gauge.make sure the battery vents are fast and intact. Some owners have had corrosion problems on the bottom rear seat pan. There is a TSB on it although I havent heard of a member here having that trouble yet. Another problem has been water in the trunk with 2 separate causes. One is the factory forgetting rubber washers where the fake spoiler is bolted to the roof, With others it is the seal that misaligned. Mine comes off in places when getting a wheel chair out. it isnt held there very good.

I agree 26 is to high. A few things that I noticed on my car is the rear air accessory in the trunk went out (getting fixed tommorow), my right front strut Bushing i guess is going bad.(fixed tommorow also) I dont think that is common though. I do have a little bit of vibration in the HUD but not much. Whats the options on it?

I paid 25 for mine a year ago; zero miles.
I had a bad battery and the bad connection near the battery.
My biggest disappointment was the loss in gas mileage. I went from a 2002 Impala 3.8 w/ 28mpg, down to 18mpg, on a daily 60 miles round trip circuit.
It'* a heck of a car! But at $3.09 for premium...

Price does seem high. My mom bought hers in Jan 06, was a demo with 4k miles when she got it. Paid right under 27 with no trade. For her car the waranty was 3 years 40 k miles. So yours should be 3years 42k miles. IT goes by 36k miles from the mileage at delivery. Its been a great car, good luck!
