How Reliable is a 05 GXP?
agree....turned rotors once then replaced at 100k; 4 sets of pads in 140,000 miles
The only comment I will make in regards to replacing the pads 4 times in 140,000 miles is this. So many people think the car is the reason for pads wearing. Pads wear because of either:
A caliper not releasing properly and causing the pad to stay engaged while driving and prematurely wearing out the pads. But, driving habits are generally the biggest culprit in pad wear. If you do a lot of stop and go driving and short trips where you have to brake alot, your pads are going to wear out faster than they would for someone who drives longer trips.
My first set of pads on my 05 GXP lasted 125,000 miles on the fronts and the rears have 145,000 miles on them and have yet to be replaced.
Also, make sure you are installing a quality brake pad when you do replace your pads. I recommend the OEM replacement ACDelco DuraStop pads.
