Default GXP Pricing

SO i am in the market for a new car. I thought a logical choice would be a Grand Prix GXP to complement my moms bonnie GXP. I really like her car and like the styling better than the GP. So i thought for fun i would get some dealer quotes. I just got 2 quotes from 2 different dealers and i think they are alittle high. One said they lowered the price to 29,995 and the other was marked down to 30,740. I know these are decent prices on 38k cars, but i was thinking they would be priced less. My mom got hers back in january for around 26. My grandmother just got an 05 deville 2 weeks ago. Sticker was 54 and she paid 39 somthing for it. I thought by now, almost in the 2007 model year the bonnevilles would be down to around 25.
I got some quotes on 06 GP GXP'* loaded with nav, sticker 32, for around 28-29.

I do like the available features of the HUD and nav in the GP, but if the price is right i would get a Bonnie in a heartbeat.

Yeah dealers are still trying to milk every last penny out of the GXPs rotting on thier lots. I went to trade my 05 GXP with 16,000 and every avail option to the benz dealer and they offered me $17,000. Most price guides have the trade-in at around 20-$23,000 dollars but KBB has it at like $15,000 which is killing us.

Needless to say I didnt trade in. You should look into a used 2001-2003 Aurora 4.0 they are the next best thing to a GXP imho but for 1/3 the price.

I with you bud, I cant believe there are still some GXP'* not sold and you think they would bring them down almost 2 years old on the lot, Mine came in just over 40,000 sticker and I got it for just under 30k total with a extended warranty thrown in. ??? I guess there are just a few left and they figure a couple suckers will bite. As much as I love my GXP, I would wait to see what happens when the '07'* roll out and see if they finally drop the price some more. I wonder just how long they can sell a new car as new. Because it is not doing them cars any good just sitting. I cant believe all the rust forming under mine already.

When I went to go pick up mine, I stood my ground with the dealer. I'd already seen the thing sitting idle for 6 months on the show pavilion in front of the dealership; I knew it wasn't moving and didn't even have any prospects.

I stared the dealer right in the eye and told him as much...he flinched. And what had been a sticker for about 42k (Hawaii dealer markups are atrocious---his was nearly 6k!)
ended up all the way down around 37k and change. It actually dropped to around 31k, but I was 5-thou upside on the Marauder I was trading away, and the HI excise tax kicked in an additional 4.166%, and I bought 2200 worth of extended warranty...so there we were.

I guess the bottom line that I'm trying to say is: Don't be afraid of the dealers. They know that as long as that car sits on their lot, it'* excess overhead that they've got to pay for. At this point, they're losing probably $500/month on every unit that hasn't sold, what with insurance and maintenance. So....storm confidently into the showroom, wave your KBB research paperwork in front of 'em (I did!), and YOU tell THEM what you're gonna pay. They'll fold.

Now...what I'll add is this: this tactic will only work on the Bonnevilles, because they're out of production. Try it with the GP GXP, and they'll laugh you out of the showroom.

BTW...there'* still 2 WG Bonnie GXPs on the dealer lot here in Honolulu...both of them fully loaded...
