Default GXP Motor Mounts

My GXP is going in for some service today, and i thought i should check the motor mounts maybe they are gone bad

This was about the best video i can take. Any idea if this movement means anything? or do i need a better video?

Emergency brake is off.
Car is in drive, while holding the brakes I'm barely touching the gas pedal. Did i do it right?

That don't look to bad. Try this. Engine off, in park, then start rocking the car back and forth. Watch the engine. It will move a bit, you want to watch for any large movements or anything contacting.

I will try that in a bit. Now the movement in the above video is that normal or there is something unusual?

I don't think it looks that bad. Like I said, it'* contact that you don't want. When your rocking the car you should be able to look down and see the front mount. Look for any tears in the rubber. A sure sign a mount is bad is you will feel a bounce when accelerating and shifting gears. Cruise control will really show this when you go up or down a hill. You will feel the car bounce but the RPMs will stay the same.

Doesn't look out of the ordinary. I'll check mine tomorrow if I get a chance. It should be fired up anyway....

Mine rocked like that too, and I thought I had a problem. After I looked at this forum and what was involved with the job, my brother-in-law hooked me up with a friend of his' kid who is a certified GM mechanic that works at a Caddy dealership and does work on the side. I actually had him order the mount for me before he looked at it, I was so convinced it was bad. When he got a look at it, said it was fine. It had actually already been replaced at sometime before I bought it at 32K, so it was probably under warranty with previous owner. Bottom line, he said the same as Danthurs, watch for rub anywhere, and for leak or tears at mount, since it'* hydraulic. I ended up with a sparte mount which I was told I will need eventually. Oh yeah, and also a great mechanic for my ride!

'05 GXP. Picked it up a Oct. '09 at 32K and it now just turned 87,000 (I do a lot of road trips). Still runs great. Had the usual issues mentioned in this site (excellent reference, by the way), but nothing major. I plan to be driving it for a quite a long time.

Looks great Scott! love the color

PS. My engine mount was toasted, and its replaced under warranty

along with that repair they replace crankcase gasket, coolant crossover gasket, heated seat module, and now my car is making some weird engine noise, it goes back in on the 30th.

Also car is consuming gas like a ****!
