Ok, I drilled 6 1/4 inch holes in the rear cover on one of the foglamps, and covered in light cloth to prevent too much dust from getting in. I just replaced both bulbs with LazerBlue bulbs from NAPA. These appear to be a good choice; they have a slight blue tint, but not too much so hopefully the bulb does not run too hot.

I added a jumper to run the fogs as DRLs a few weeks ago, which is cool, but of course I lost a bulb which was only 1 month old probably from all of the on time. So I'll run one foglamp vented and see if it helps or hurts bulb life. The fogs are now on all the time when I am driving.

So it turns out it is the ground for the foglight assembly but what I am told it is a solid state and my warranty will not cover the whole assembly. You know what though I still have 4 and a half years on this warranty and already racked up about $1800 out of the 2,200 I paid for it. I will get my moneys worth

Looks like I will have to buy the assembly myself anyone know a ballpark range of it? Anyways I am done with Pontiac dealership at this point they are useless I know someone at Toyota that will take care of it.

Yeah I think that was the difference. Don't get me wrong though Warranty Direct is a great company. But I still think it should have been covered. The dealership told me the lines at the assembly were deterated from the heat that it produced.

That does suck. I just had my drivers side housing replaced 2 weeks ago under factory warranty and no problems since. I am getting ready to go put my other bulbs in them so lets hope everything continues to work perfect.

My driver'* side bulb just blew. About 8-10 months of usage...I forget when I had the housing changed...
Hopefully just from usage not from anything else since the GXP is now out of warranty.

Default 55 watt and 100 watt H3 foglight bulbs

Another thing you guys might want to consider when buying foglight bulbs is that there is a 55 watt and 100 watt H3 foglight bulb which Im sure the 55 watt runs cooler but may not be as bright.I had the dealer change my harness and bulbs and they put 55 H3 Watt bulbs in my car.Im going to go with a Xenon Hid Kit for my foglamps that cost $50 plus $30 for shipping I got on E-Bay and the Xenons are only 35 watt H3 bulbs that they say last 2-3 time longer and should run cooler but are brighter.I have these on my low beams now and they are just about as bright as my Halogon high beams.

I had the wiriing harness replaced in August 2006 right at 36,000 miles. My passenger side fog light just blew again about a month ago at ~56k miles. I always drive with the fog lights on so the bulb lasted about 13 months / 20K miles.
I'm still debating whether to try to fight the dealer and/or Pontiac to replace the bulb under goodwill or just sucking it up and replacing it myself whenever it goes.

It has been a while since I had the housing replaced and even with the upgraded bulbs I have not had any problems. I am sure that I just jinxed myself and it will probably go this weekend but I just wanted to state that with the new housing everything has been perfect.
