expected or bad sign....?
"Low Engine Coolant" message shown for GXP on auction.... what could this really mean?

My Mom has a 02 Deville (same engine of course) with 39K miles and it won't hold coolant. Not leaking on the floor. It'* going back in the shop for warranty (pre-existing condition that was reported before the warranty ran out). Of course, my 03 SSEi won't hold coolant either.. It'* actually leaking it somewhere.

Low Engine Coolant
I saw this on my 2004 GXP and checked the overflow reservoir. I just added a little bit of distilled water (about a pint and half) and haven't seen the problem resurface. it has been at least 5 months since I last saw it. Coloant can evaporate over time from the overflow reservoir. The sensor for low coolant is in there (the overflow reservoir) so if it'* a little low it will send the "Low Engine Coolant" message to the DIC. I wouldn't worry about it too much unless it becomes a constant issue like every week after you add water or coolant to the reservoir.
