Default Cruise Control

I am pretty sure for some reason or another the cruise control is activating itself on my car. At first I thought somehow I had managed to hit the button, but now it has happened 4 times. I am 99.9% sure that I did not hit the button. Has anyone ever had this problem, or is there another way to turn the cruise on that I do not know about?

No other way but to activare the little botton on turn signal arm???? My clicks when I turn it on. should not be able to fall down into the on position on it'* own. Maybe you are leaving the little switch on and hitting the set button on the end of the arm when you use turn signal?

That'* a new one to me. First of all, do you have the slide switch on the stalk ON or OFF? This is important mostly when reporting to the dealer when you take it in for repair.

I've accidently set my cruise with a brush of the end button, but never without realizing it.

Another thing that I've done is been on cruise and then accelerated to pass, and much later, let off the gas, and was surprised when the cruise picked up at my old set speed several minutes later. (so, did this occur when you were slowing down?).

I've left my cruise on and forget to turn it off and then when i let off the gas, it coasted down to the preset speed as well. First car I've had where acceleration doesnt kick off the cruise control.

The slide switch was set to on. This happened while accelerating slowly. So more or less I am accelerating and then the cruise kicks in and actually starts accelerating the car faster than I was.

The cruise wont activate untill you reach a certain speed. Not sure what speed that is but I will play with it my next time out. Possibly you activated the resume funtion and when it got up to the minumum speed, it took it up to the previously set speed? It does seem like a quirky setup and like i mentioned does noit cut off when the accelerater is pushed down (all my Buicks did) and I cofused it once in heavy traffic and it just shut down. I actually thought it was broke untill i stoped at a rest area for a break, restarted the car and it started functioning again.

Jarvis, I did a little digging anf there is a TSB similar to what you are experiencing, here is the description and the TSB number, if it continues to do this it would be a good idea to have it looked at.

VEHICLE SPEED CONTROL Bulletin Number: 050604058
Bulletin Date: SEP 2005
Vehicle: 2005 Pontiac Bonneville
Summary:
INTERMITTENT CHUGGLE OR FISHBITE ON LIGHT ACCELERATION OR A HIGHWAY SPEEDS WITH NO DIAGNOSTIC TROUBLE CODES (DTCS). ( NHTSA ITEM NUMBER - 10017568 )
