Question Car Shudders when switching gears under load.

Ok so my car is going in the shop friday....When the car is first started in the morning and im driving from 1st to 2nd it shifts ok but very tight? I dont know if thats the right word. After I have been driving for a while when the car is changing gear the car like shudders not bangs just shudders. its really annoying. Any ideas? Also I have a ticking coming from behind the drivers firewall I think that started after the shuddering issue. In the real cold weather in the winter when i went from P to R it would bang. So stressfull.

Check your tranny mounts. Also, when was the last time you changed your tranny fluid and filter?

Please add your year and trim of your vehicle to your signature line. That way when you start asking questions in other areas of the forum, we all have a better idea on how to assist you. Click on "Quick Links" above, go down to "User Control Panel" and then click on "Edit your Signature" It'* pretty straight forward from there.

Doubt it will help @ 39K miles. It sounds alot like a engine mount broke. It has happened infrequently with the GXP'*. Have someone set the e-brake and hold the pedal brake down hard and lightly touch the accelerator. See if you have alot of drive train movement. I will stress the lightly part here again and make sure it'* someone with a brain behind the wheel.......

haha yeah that could be bad....Well its going in the shop anyway so i really hope thats all it is...Now the ticking...Could it be that the stress on the rest of the parts from a bad mount do harm to the exhaust like the manifold? Like ticking is herd very light when first starting very sofe..but when in gear and pressing gas fills whole cabin....put it in N and press gas and you just hear the engine purrr.

Check your front drivers side trans mount. It'* under the exhaust manifold. If that comes loose it will shutter.

Edit.

Opps, my bad, wrong engine

Well they traced the shuttering through the gears to a bad front engine mount. Orderd part...Ticking, they are going to look at after they get that installed...But thinking it may be exhaust related.

Good to hear that it got figured out. Tranny and engine mounts create all sort of weird noises and performance issues when they go.

If the ticking is exhaust related...yiiippppeee for you!
