make sure that there is no large magnets (subwoofers) anywhere near the rear seat area in the trunk...that is where the compass is located on the 00+

and te recalibration should be in the owners manual

Just go with it reclibrate it, I have down 3 times so far on my SLE, just drive in a circle see your owners manual for great detail or pm me. Hope you get it fixed!

the compass is magnetic, and fairly senitive...any thing like a sub will have some influence on the reading

It might, but it might also render the compass non-functional... can you magnetically shield your sub box?

Thats what I'm saying put some metallic stuff aroud and back side of subwoofer
