A/C on 2005 GXP
I was gonna say above also that it sounds like they fixed the effect of the problem, not the cause. Could be a bad clutch on the compressor!
You need to have a Tech2 hooked up and have the technician manually command the compressor on/off and monitor whether or not it engages/disengages. From there it would determine their course of action.
If it were me, when I faced these issues in service, I’d start looking at the electrical/electronic controllers first, test those individual components as well as their resistance measures and voltage outputs were within spec. This would isolate any electrical gremlin.
If all controller mechanisms worked out, I’d then test system pressure as well as load. These would lead me at some point to the compressor/clutch if too much pressure was being built from constant engagement, causing excessive load (pressure) in the system, causing a high resistance load in the circuit as the compressor has to work harder to overcome it, causing the fault you’re having.
I’ve always hated working on A/C systems!!

My car has been in the shop many of times for a coouple different reasons but it was nothing about the a/c. I have only 27000 on it but I have a warranty up to 100,000. So I am covered for a while.
Well, maybe I need to fly you out to San Diego to fix this damn thing :o Anyways, picked up the car again today and this is the latest. Per the dealer they found a bad relay that was powering the compressor even while the system was off. I looked at them and said, "No kidding!" For the love of god
We will see how long it lasts this time. On another note, they have managed to melt a hole in my center console and ding the heck out of my driver'* side front rim. I have to wonder what the heck is going on. Thank you all for your comments and support and hopefully this thing is fixed.
