if you broke the shift accumulator the car would lock itself into 2nd gear. been there, done that on the aurora. this isn't somthing that breaks from abuse either. id look more into the mounts. your best bet is to bring it to a dealership and have them tell you whats wrong. is it ALWAYS clunking? or just under certain amounts of gas pressure?

also, post this over at clubgp, since there are TONS more members over there, your car has the same exact transmission as a grand prix gt.

maybe the new ones break more because of the more power? the 3.5dohc is a 215hp engine, the old 3.8 was 170hp. also much higher shiftpoints

lol grand prix speaking of my mom wants to trade her 1999 intrigue in twords a 2002 pontiac grand prix GTP cause its blue and she dont like her green intrigue and i ask her why do you want something with 260 hp and crappy gas mileage she already complains about her intrigue getting low gas mileage lmfao I tell her to look for her car she really wanted in the 1st place a blue grand am with a 3.4 v-6 cause better gas mileage at the cost of hp but she dont need alot of horsepower going to work and back
