Actually, no. He should be okay with an '88. I think i'd stick with an '88 or '89. If you had to pick between the two, and the price was the same, the obvious choice is your year .

Thanx for the tips on the FSM. I think i will go for the -89 from factoryautomanuals.com it'* the most expencive but also the most accurate.
The problem is that i got som hard klicking in sometimes front left speaker and somtimes in the rear speakers!! Ive checked and cleaned the connectors on both HU and speakers.

Can you elaborate on the clicking you hear? You have the tape deck, with EQ, performance sound, and Steering Wheel Controls, correct? I'm just guessing, because that'* what I have. Is the clicking consistant? Intermittant? Upon initial startup? etc..

Yep i got the tapedeck performace sound and SW control.
The klicking is not consistant and appears after aprox 2 min of playing.
I also have a adapter for my MDplayer http://www.clasohlson.se/images/prod...-01_134615.jpg

Dude, I have an MD Player too! lol
Anyways, the clicking, if you know it'* not from the music you have, and if you can reproduce it on the radio [ie w/o a tape], then it'* probably something up with the HU. The wiring and speakers cannot be consistant like that. My front passenger'* speaker [the 3.5"] will produce nothing but static upon turning down the volume, or when turning the HU off, then back on within and hour period. This just goes to show you, my system likes to be louder . It clears up after a few minutes, no matter what, though.

before you pinpoint anything, let me ask a few questions maybe i can help
1.Are they the original factory or afterarket speakers?
2. do they only do it when you turn it up?
3. does it only do it at certain sound freaquencies?
this could be the speaker just getting old and needing replacing. If you want to pinpoint if it is the hu, switch the wiring for your left and right speakers and see if it still does it on the same channel or if the sound moves too
