will it work? - GM Forum - Buick, Cadillac, Chev, Olds, GMC & Pontiac chat

Audio (and aftermarket electronics) This is your place for alarms, remote starters, to brag about your system, exaggerate your db levels, or simply ask questions for stock or aftermarket audio. No Flames! (except from roasted amps)

Default will it work?

If my 98 Bonne came with 5.25 speakers in the doors, and I bought 4x6, will I still be able to mount them in the doors?

Why would you want to do that?

round speakers are significantly better than oval speakers.

Can someone shine some light on this for me? How does it have 5.25 speakers in the doors? I thought it should have 4x6 in the door?

It depends on your trim level. Higher trims have TWO speakers in each door. 5.25 components and tweeters. Not an oval single.

Oh, I see. I thought they all had 4x6 but the higher trims just added a tweeter. Thanks for clearing it up .
