What should I do with this amp?

Default What should I do with this amp?

A friend of mine just gave me an Alpine MRV-T302 amp, its a 2 channel amp here are the basic specs on it, all the specs are RMS wattage:

At 12 volts:
4 ohms 30w per- channel
2 ohms 50w per channel
4 ohms 100w bridged

There are also specs for 14.4 volts, but I dont see those affecting me, it shouldnt get more than 12 volts right?

Anyway, my 6x9s are rated to handle up to 40 watts rms and 300 peak. So I was thinking about just hooking it up to them.

Or, I could also pick up a cheap sub, this same guy says he has one hed sell me for 20 bucks, not sure what kind it is. I dont like massive bass, but I like a healthy dose. I know that the sub in my room is about 125w, and its plenty loud enough.

What think ya'll?

well, my first thought when reading your title is to give the amp to me

If you want to add some bass to your ride, it will do it with a small sub...maybe a 8-10" sub...even a 12" could be ran off of it..long as it isn't a crazy sub.

OR, run a good set of 6X9s off of it. Don't know what you got in the car already aftermarket and such to give good opinion.

If your electrical system is in good health your car is always operating near 14 volts (unless the motor isn't running) because that is the output of the alternator.

The only aftermarket stuff i have is an Eclipse CD3403 and the speakers in my signature.

I think I may just go ahead and hook it up to the 6x9s when I get the chance. The wiring for power and signal would be the same no matter which route Im taking. So it would be easy to add a sub at a later time if the amp is already wired up. All I would have to do is move some wiring around, and change a few settings.

Any other thoughts?

yup, put it on your 6x9'* then. as you said, its just a simple swap of rca'* on deck if your deck supports sub-out rca connections.

good luck.
