Default What kind of wood to use?

Hey guys I was wondering what kind of wood do they build sub boxes out of?? or what kind can I use to make a box? I'm planing on building a box that will wrap around the back of my truck giving space in the middle for whatever but on the back and the sides will be subs. ( 4 total )

Thanks

Erich

X2 on the MDF. You can go with Birch plywood but it is quite a bit more expensive. Like 40.00 for a 4X8. MDF is easier to work with, but you want to make sure it is in a location where it won't get wet.

Good luck

What type of subs are we talking here, and how much space do you have?

If all subs will be on the same board, I'd recommend the front face being double baffled (basically, just stack two front plates on top of each other, and mount the sub on the top plate). This will eliminate a lot of flex.

That'* actually what I did as well, layered 2 panels of the MDF for the front. Better be safe than sorry.
