worst case scenario I can imagine, the device should have an FCC compliance sticker on it, with an FCC ID number which can be referenced to the manufacturer. But I can't invision the brain not having markings on it to identify the model.

Take a pic of the Remote that you have & post it.
I will do my best to narrow it down for you. If I can't tell what unit it is, than maybe someone else here may reconize it.
Sorry to hear about the other stereo shops trying to rip you off. There is good in bad in every industry, including this one.

Here is the remote. The writing on the back says 433Mhz. No other markings.

Hope someone can figure out who makes it or how to get another one.
Went to a third stereo/alarm place downtown yesterday. Big place. The guy
said "looks like a chinzee (cheap) model, we won't touch it." Man... :(

Do you have an antenna for the R/* mounted to the windshield ?

It should be along the top of the windshield, around the rearview mirror or somewere near the top edge of the glass.

If so..........

Is it short and stubby (around 3-4 inches in length) with Blue LED'* (lights) on it ?

OR

Is the antenna long & skinny (6-10 inches in length) ?

If you can take a pic of the antenna on the windshield (if there is one) and post it this will help to narrrow it down.

I think I know what brand your Remote Starter is...........I think its a AutoStart (Sometimes refered to as AutoMobility)

Here is a link for one of there products that looks similar to yours (same remote shape & button configuration).
http://www.autostart.ca/prodInfo.php...=AS-2300iTW-FM

Take a look at the antenna pictured (put your mouse over it and it enlarges the pic).

If your R/* is one of theirs it'* and older one (may still be possible to get a remote).

There is also a "Dealer Locator" tab along the top bar. See if you can find a authorized dealer in your area.

Here is the antenna pics. It is the short one.
There is no LED on the antenna, only the remote transmitter.

I'm looking through the link you provided now.
I can't seem to be able to display the 2300iTW model or the dealer locator page. Hmmm... OK got it.

A couple more questions:
Is there a button on the back of the antenna ? Like a programing or valet button.....I can't tell from the pics
Where is the Ignition switch (key cylinder) in the dash or in the steering coloum ?
This box you found behind center console with the sticker on it, how many wires are coming off of it ?

I'm pretty sure your R/* is made by one of these 2 companies;

http://www.ultrastarters.com/
OR
http://www.autostart.ca/

The antenna looks like it is a UltraStart antenna, but the remote looks like an Autostart (Command Start) remote.
I'm guessing but I still think that its a AutoStart product judging by the looks of the Remote.

FYI: AutoStart makes product under various names CommandStart (sold at BestBuy/Circuit City), ProStart, etc.

I have an idea that is kind of risky but might eventually happen anyways.
You could take apart the remote and see if there is a name stamped on the circuit board.

The risk involved with this is that the remote may no longer work if the battery is taken out or if it died. The remote may need to be reprogramed and without knowing what unit it is this would be difficult.

I would take the risk and see if there is a name on the circuit board. It'* either that or live with one remote until the battery dies, then see what happens after its replaced.

The only other way would be to find the R/* brain and look at it for markings. If you did this and took a pic of it, I would most likely be able to idenify it.

To do this remove underdash if necessary/possible, find the ignition harness and follow the wires coming off, of it to the brain.

I already took the remote apart, nothing on the inside. There is no button on the antenna. I found a seller on ebay - superremotestore or something like that. They had 4500 aftermarket remotes for sale. That was 4500 different brands. I paged through every single picture. The only remotes that matched mine completely were from a company called Skytek. I sent them an email already.
The ignition switch is in the dash. I dropped the under panel already but it will take alot more disassembling to get a good view of the wires. The box behind the radio has quite a few wires coming from it, and I found something interesting.. a push button on the end of a rigid wire. It'* like a reset button or like the old remote shutter release for cameras. It'* attached to the small black box. I think I might have to remove the console to really see this box however.

Ok the Ignition switch is in the dash which means that the Ignition harness is behind the radio.
Before you order a new remote, you still have to know (100%) what make and model your remote starter is. You need this info in order to download a install manual that tells you how to program the a new remote (assuming you can get one).

This button you found is the valet and or, the programing button.....don't mess with it or you might disable your R/*.

The box behind the radio.........how many wires coming out of it 10-20 ?
Does it look like this or similar?
http://www.theinstallationshop.com/i...OD&ProdID=2250

Look what I found for you running a search on yahoo...........
http://www.scytek.net/

Never heard of this company before but if this is whats in your car and it works, then there is no need to upgrade yet.

Let us know how it turns out.

Good Luck,
Dutch

The box behind the radio does have about 10-20 wires attached to it. It doesn't seem to have the hump like the one in your picture or the one on Scyteks website, but it is about the same size only flatter. It does appear to have an FCC number on it in very small writing in a corner but I can't get in there close enough yet to write down all the numbers. I'll keep trying. It was 10 degrees last night so my patience under the dash is somewhat thin. The only other marking in that Pass VI sticker.
I really appreciate the help by the way.

Try and write down all the markings you can off of the brain & a pic too if possible.
Then I would contact Scytek and see if they can provide you with some manuals & a remote.

Your welcome for the help
Good Luck,
Dutch
