Umm... I believe I do not have that problem. But I'd have to double check to make sure. I'm gonna have to get back to you on that one in a little while, because my battery is out of the car right now.

Yes you should be able to put the strut tower bar on your '88 SSE with no problem! The bodies of all of the 88 - 91 bonnies are pretty much the same as far as I'm concerned. So whatever fit on my car, should fit on yours! I haven't tried driving my bonnie after I put the strut tower bar on (cost me $10 by the way), but I've heard from a lot of people that it significantly stiffens up the frame, improving the handling dramatically! We'll see.

Did you go with an aftermarket deck, or did you stick to the stock-looking Delco units? I wish I could help you with your problem, but I'm not really an expert on the actual controls themselves. But I do remember a moment about a year back when my Seek button stopped working. Fortunately that went away without me having to do anything, and the controls didn't give me trouble since.

Sorry, I meant '87 - '91 bonnies. Also, if you're out in a junkyard scavanging for parts and you don't see any bonnies, I'm pretty sure that a strut tower bar from an olds Eighty-Eight or a Buick LeSabre ('88 - '93) would work just fine...

Sorry I took so long to reply. I finally got the Bonnie up and running again, and it seems that my climate control display doesn't want to dim. :( This was probably the first time I used the dimmer on my Bonne(I don't usually take it on long trips), so I can't say if it worked before or not. Could the problem be because of my stereo upgrade?

Yes, see:

http://www.bonnevilleclub.com/techinfo/?article=58

However, you should still have the capability to dim with the 93 radio. Did you see a purple/white wire from your radio? If not, it probably came from a car without electronic climate control. Try my procedure in reverse, patching the extra wire in.

Yes. The '93 Bonneville that I took the radio out of didn't have electronic climate control. I'll try your procedure in reverse as soon as I get a chance to.

IMPORTANT: if anyone is interested in doing the deck swap that I have described above, please PM me first! There'* a slight change that has to be made to the procedure in order to keep your climate control'* dimming capability. (I can't post it at the moment, because I need to take apart my dash to remember the way I have the deck wired right now.)

It works! I snipped the 2 wires going to the radio(cd deck)and now the steering wheel controls work!!
Except on my car I had to snip 1 green and the other wire was purple/yellow.
