Default Typhoon swap possible?

Does anyone know what differences there actually are between a '94 Bonnie SSEi (stock system) and the Typhoon systems Pontiac used on some of the GP'*? I would love to upgrade if feesible to the Typhoon system to keep the stock look of the Bonnie, but need something that will do great for my subs as well (and I know I will still have to get a sub controller and crossovers to do this), but the whole goal is to keep it looking stock with the orange backlighting. I don't know what amp was used from the factory with the Bonnies vs. what amps were used in the GP'* with the upgraded system.

Again, if this is even feesible. I will put my aftermarket deck in if the cost is going to be too outrageous. So I guess, first question is, is this even possible? Thanks.

Oh, I called the wrecking yard looking for a Monsoon deck and they told me only Mitsubushi had the Monsoon, GM used the Typhoon...oh well, anyways, any possibility?

don't know the answer.. but 2 things
1. find new wrecking yard to use.
2. opinion - not worth time, effort and cost to go monsoon. sure it sound OK...but if your already tearing into it and wiring it up...go aftermarket..you will be happy you did.

Thanks, I was afraid that was going to be the answer, but hey, you can't blame a guy for trying. Anyone know of any aftermarket decks that have the orange backlighting? (then again, that could be a question for Crutchfield...lol) Thanks again.

i think you will be hard pressed to find an exact orange match deck lighting. alot of reds though. that is what i normally do in my pontiacs.....ya, its different...but not bad.

If you want stock looks, you could look into using a stock HU and piggytail a signal processor on the outputs. I don't remember the brand names, but look it up on crutchfield.com. This would allow your dash to remain stock, and still have all the versatility of any aftermarket amps, speakers and subs you want.

Alternatively, you could go with an aftermarket HU that will match the color scheme of the dash (to me, that'* my favorite part of these interiors. I wouldn't change the color/ambience for all the decibels in the world...but that'* just me.

Good luck in whatever you choose-make sure to post it when you're done!

Thought about doing that, installing a piggy-back off of the rear wires, but my deck'* CD player is shot and the twelve disc in the trunk just doesn't have the high quality sound, (using fm transmitter ) So, maybe if I can go aftermarket, I can get the twelve disc hooked up the right way...lol. Trouble is, if I go stock, is finding another deck with EQ that everything works....you just never know.
