Power caps...do they help protect you battery/alternator ?

I don't know if they help/protect your battery.... but they sure do improve your sound, and the drain on the battery. I suppose, thinking about it, that they can't HURT your battery, and preventing the drain is probably a good thing.

Yeah it doesnt protect your battery persay but... it does help it from going into a very low charge which can be damaging to a battery..

Hmmmmm just found some interesting reading..

If your battery drains without a cap it is still going to drain with a cap. So in other words beef up the alt. before anything and youll be fine.

All a cap does is smooth out the loads a battery sees. You don't get the giant peaks from low notes, as they take power from the cap.

0 gauges mains, and stronger alts are the real fixes. A Red top alone is not.

Also if you go anything bigger than a 4 gauge it would be smart to also upgrade the power line going from the alt. to the battery.
