Subs to stock head unit?
Is there any way I can hook my amp and my subs up to my stock deck/ head unit? I have a 1999 Pontiac Bonneville SSEI, with the Bose system.

I However would strongly suggest against it. Save your money for a proper setup if you'd like an amp to run anything IMO. Amplified outputs for speakers have a lot of distortion, noise, etc. Running that into an amplifier is only going to amplify the distortion.
Then again, i am a sound quality nut. Many people have done it (Jim W) and are happy with the results. Hopefully he'll chime in here.

The first system I had was hooked up to my stock headunit and it was loud and sounded pretty good, most of the distortion comes from the stock headunit not putting out clean sound (but if you are listening to a stock soundsystem right now you are arleady used to that) the only major distortion you can get is engine noise if you run the RCA wires next to the power wire or any high electircal source because it will cause interference. (shielded RCAs also help with that) It does sound pretty good when you hook up subwoofers because it does not have to replicate 100% accurate because it is just bass and you most likely will not notice too much of a difference anyways. If you are planning on getting an amp and replacing the speakers inside and doing all of that then i would definately suggest the aftermarket headunit. Also if you want to stay with a factory headunit JL has a line converter that is called clean sweep which adjusts all of your audio so it doesnt distort and you can add amps and it will be clean and accurate. You can tap your remote off of your antenna if it is a power antenna or you can just go from the fusebox on something that turns on and off with the engine.

yah as long as the power source turns on and off with the car its good. All it is doing is sending a signal to turn the amp on and off. when your stock radio is on it sends the 12v power to the antenna no matter what if its on tape or cd or radio or whatever. you will have to reroute your remote if you get an aftermarket headunit though because they usually only power antennas when the radio is on, but for your setup it will be easy to hook up since it is already in your trunk. any more questions just ask because i have done a ton of the stock headunit systems and i have also had one myself.
