Default Amp Question w/ Bose System

I have been trying to connect a MTX amp to drive a sub on my 2000 SSEi BOSE system. I haven't had any luck in getting a pre-amp signal out of the head unit, so I temporarily just connected the high-level sub amp input to my rear speakers. The subwoofer sound isn't as good as I hoped, but it'* better than what I had.

Since this setup amplifies an already-amplified signal (coming from the BOSE amp), is there any danger of cooking my sub amp?

umm it could be bad for the amp if it does not have high level inputs but there is a converter that takes line level and lowers it to a useable level for ur amp. u can use a line level converter if it does not support high level. also it will sound bad if it does not support high level and you run high level.

My amp does have high level inputs, but I'm not sure how high a level they were intended to handle. I didn't know that there was a converter that could step-down the power from the speakers. That might solve the problem...if I even have one.

it will act the same as preouts, because it'* converting them back. But you loose quality because of the two conversions.
