Default stock speaker question

Is there any way to stop a speaker from blowing? Can I fix it before it dies? I have no money, and I neeeed my tunes.

bass is the ultimate killer of the majority of speakers. Keep the volume low and the bass down.

You can get a stock speaker out of the junkyard for a little bit of nothing. Just make sure they'll let you take it back if it'* blown too. What i've done before is simply test electronic parts on my own car in the junkyard parking lot before leaving.

The junkyard here has absolutely NO Bonnevilles, the newest car in there is an 88, and almost every car there is stripped. I have my bass turned down half way, and the volume is about 1/4 of the way, but the speaker still rattles. One of the back ones blew last night.

do they rattle or crackle? there is a difference. if its a rattle sound the screws that hold the speaker in could be loose.

time for cheap speakers or something....

The back one crackles. The front one rattles. How do I get to the screws?

OK. I really don't need both the rears. Nobody hardly rides in my back seat, so I just turned the fade towards the front, and called er done.

That silver car in my sig pic has 2 12s, 2 6s, and 2 4s.
