What year?? Mine took me maybe 20 minutes out in the parking lot at work. Pop the grills off. Pop the old speakers and mounts out. 4 screws to remove and replace speakers. Splice the proper electrical connections onto the stock wires. Plug it all in. Pop in the speaker mounts. Pop the grills back on. Done.

Just like playin with Lego'*!!!

Uhhh, mine was a little different than that. Got those el cheapo WalMart 6X9'*(Rockfords) and I couldn't use the factory mounts or without the mounts. Had to trim the mounts a little to accept the new speakers. 40+ minutes. Guess it just depends on what brand you get.
Or was it I accidently got 4X6'*?

My speakers were a little tight, too. But some brute force got them to go in pretty nice.

I dont have pics, but it'* kinda built in 3 layers

Grill
Speaker
Speaker mount

Pop the grll off (pull gently from the side)

The speaker/speaker mount is held in by a couple of plastic clips. Look down through the window and you'll see them at each end. Mine were white. The mount pops out of those.

There are 4 screws holding the speaker to the mount. Pull them out. Then theres a layer of "goo" holding the stock speaker down.

You may need to mod the mount a tiny bit to get the new speakers to fit perfectly. Nothing a sharp razor knige, a file or sandpaper won't handle.

You will probably also need to put new plugs on the speaker wires.

Reverse the procedure and you're done.
