Default Steering Wheel Controls

While I'm poking around in the car, figured I'd ask this...

I replaced my factory unit with an aftermarket a few months back, because the factory unit'* cd player went out. When I switched the units out, my steering wheel audio controls don't work with the aftermarket unit.

Any idea why not? Any way to make it work? Not a pressing urge, but if there'* a simple little fix, figured I'd ask.

you have to get an adapter harness to make them work again. also your new aftermarket head has to be able to work with your factory steering wheel controls

Ah. I'll just let it slide then, haha. I wasn't sure if it had to do with the factory amp plug or what(all I did there was cut it before the plug and splice it in).
