Smaller pulley for an alternator
I got a high current alt. for my '93 and it doesn't like to charge at idle. It currently has a
2.250" pulley on it. Anyone know where to get a marginally smaller one? Maybe a 2".
Yesb, I know the bearings may not like it, thats why I have a spare alt. with the tools to do a replacement.

Well if your blasting your radio at a light then yes its not going to charge. All depending on that car, your alt wont charge your battery until/above 100o- 1500 rpms. Changing your pulley size on your alt. is only going to kill your battery and alt. faster.

Yep. 55Ah and 750cca. Best battery I could find that would fit without stupid mods. Actually it just dropped in. It was recommended to me by Optima over the red top because of the high current demands of my little stereo.

I've got a yellow top JUST for my stereo and I'm still using the stock Delco battery and my voltage dosen't really drop. stays at 14.7 , I also have a 5- farad. DON"T underdrive your alternator with high current system, big strain on cars elcetrical system then. I'd recommend having two batteries.
As for yellow top vs. read top optima'* , I was told that the general rule is that use a red top for the car and yellow top for stereo.

I'm using a yellow top as my only battery. No trouble. I can even run the stereo loud, rear window defogger, headlights, etc, at the same time without any dimming headlights. Oh, and a 1 farad cap. I don't know what my voltage does, I'm supercharged, so I don't have a voltmeter.

Thanks for the input. Sounds like another batt is the way to go. Losing an amp might be helpful to my hearing though. I'm starting to realize 1400W may be a bit excessive.
If I do decide to do another batt. I do have a question. Do I ned to run both pos. and neg.
wires from the front, or can I get away with just my existing pos. and take the neg. to the chassis of the car?
