Should I keep it stock?

Default Should I keep it stock?

I have a Sony 5700 mp3 deck but I am undecided as to if I should install it. The car'* stereo is the stock Bose system. If I put in the mp3 deck, will it depreciate it?

Thanks!

It should be a fairly straight forward install. Just hold on to the stock deck just in case ya decide to sell her to me

Large matter of personal preference, I'm not a fan of aftermarket headunits, so I would say stock, but others are going to say switch, this concept would also translate to buyers in the context of depreciation you asked about.

Think about what you prefer, switch accordingly, keep both units on hand in the event you want to sell to give a buyer either option.

Having a 97 SSEi... and having changed the HU.. let me add my feelings.

The sound quality with stock speakers and an aftermarket deck is MUCH better. I wanted to use MP3'* and enjoy the new deck.

If done with a factory connecting harness that can be found at any autoparts store, the swap from one to the other is quick and easy. For me to swap back from aftermarket to stock would take 15 minutes, including removing the PAC SWI that allows me to use the steering wheel controls with aftermarket HU.

Sound quality will go up alot. This isn't a rare car/rare option or anything, so you're not killing any resale value down the line. Ify ou're that worried, just keep the factory deck around, it'* not like you're cutting into factory wiring.
