Self Install
What'* up everyone. I've been wondering how I'm supposed to get to the headunit in my 99 Bonne. I'm looking to replace it by myself. What is needed for the install exactly? Any cutting or splicing? And do I need a wire harness? I know I need an antenna adapter. lol. Pictures of the headunit install would be amazing. Also, how can I get to the rear speakers? I really don't want to pay someone to do something that I know how to do. Thank you guys
hahaha. I'm aiming to replace the stock headunit myself. I need to know how to get to it to remove it. I also need to know hat is needed for the install exactly. Any cutting or splicing? And do I need a wire harness? I was wondering if anyone had pictures of how to pop off the panel to get to the headunit.
Sorry for the double post, but which harness and antenna adapter would I need? http://www.scosche.com/products/productID/202 or http://www.scosche.com/products/productID/205 & http://www.scosche.com/products/productID/262 or http://www.scosche.com/products/productID/263. I don't want to end up buying the wrong part. lol.
there will be a trim piece that goes around ur HU, AC, then across, over the steering wheel, ect. Its held in place with clips. Carefully pull this piece off. to make this easier tilt ur steering wheel all the way down. and if a column shifter pull all the way down to 1st gear.
Oncee u have it off, u will beable to see how the stock HU is installed. There will be a couple hex head bolts holding it in. take these out with a socket/ratchet. U should now beable to pull it out. Disconnect the Antenna and wiring harness from the back.
U will need a antenna adapter as u mentioned and a vehicle specific wiring harness. Wont cost more than $15 for both. If ur installing a single Din HU (which is the most common size) u will need a installation kit because ur stock HU and opening is a Din and a Half. U can buy a Din and a Half HU. But most people dont.

. Which of the 2 antenna adapters and wiring harness'* that I posted above would I need? And how is this dash kit? http://www.scosche.com/products/productID/1204
the Dash Install kit looks about right. but. your best bet (and prolly cheapest route) will be to go to WalMart and get the antenna adaptor, wiring harness and installation kit. cause u can see em in person and its easier to take em back if there the wrong ones.
I also recommend while u have everything apart to run the RCA cables and remote wire off the back of your new HU, so u have the wires ready to go if u ever want to add a amp and subs in the future.

Alright. I ordered everything I needed finally. Well...mostly everything. I didn't order the PWI-X. I went with the Kenwood X494. I looked before, I have no idea how to get to the radio. Is there anyone who has pictures of how to do it? It would really be appreciated.
