yeah there is metal behind that plastic, but it was easy to go through.

We put my system in the bonne this past weekend, just wanted to say thanks to all those who gave me input on where to drill through the firewall for the power wire. Drilled exactly where you told me too, right near the wire harness to the ECU and it came into the car behind the glove box. I was surprised on how easy it was. I will have pictures soon (when I get around to it)
