i just purchased a bunch of dynamat and i think i want to apply it around my 6x9s on the rear deck under the carpeting. could anyone give me instructions on how to lift up the rear deck carpeting? also should i even do this since the speakers are in grilles? anyone done this before?

search for rear seat removal. then getting the deck out is self explainatory.

and yes, people have sound deadened the rear deck.

any instructions on how to remove the seat?

remove bottom of seat by pushing in and pulling up and it should pop out. (gotta use some force) then you will have to remove the top of the seat by removing the nuts out of the bottom (where the seatbelts are connected and a couple of other ones) then after that there are a couple of pushpins in the front of the deck, those just pop out. you will also have to pop out the pillars which are also held in by push pins. i think thats about it.

are you running your subs open air??!!!!

the 2 in the back deck are runnin free air and they are only half rms so they are fine. sound quality actually is pretty good and they are pretty loud for out of the box sub, but I chose to put them there more for show than anything else anyways.

just be careful removing the pillar trim. it is east to break the mounting tabs on those. Seat removal sounds about right as described about. 2 15mm bolts if I recall correctly, and two 18/19mm nut thingies on the sides that I used an open ended cresent wrench for. Oh, there are two plastic pushpins on either side of the passthrough that need to be removed two. can access from trunk or reaching in the passthrough. Halfway down it on either side. I forgot these when I tried and for 15 minutes I tried getting the seat out. then I remembered. with the rear deck, make sure to disconnect the tweeters if you have them before removing it. lastly, it might need to be wiggled out as they can be in there good.
