I got mine for $100 also. But it was out of a grand prix, and for some reason the steering wheel buttons are all jumbled. volume up is volume down, am/fm is volume up, etc. everything else is identical. go figure. It also won't play cds in cold weather until it warms up after about 5 minutes

Even w/those little annoying problems I still love it--especially at night when it'* lit up all orangy.BTW--is there any way to get it to work w/our steering wheel controls? How about if I grabbed the end plug from the 92 and spliced it into the 89 harness?
Depends on how the car was optioned that it came in new. If the car didn't have steering wheel controls the radio won't work with steering wheel controls.
One solution would be to get a am/fm/cassette radio of the same vintage that has steering wheel controls.
Take both radios apart and use the cd face plate and cd unit and put them together with the stereo/amp portion of the other radio. Should have working steering wheel controls then.

Oh, and for tools you will need a small/medium flat screw driver, a socket (small -can't remember size), and maybe a #2 phillips screw driver.
The first I did this to it took me about 1/2 hour. After about my 4th or 5th I had it down to where I could have it done in 15-20 mins.
Good luck

The car did have steering wheel controls on it. Just for the hell of it I have a cass radio from the same year--w/eq--that came from a car that had wheel controls too.
Splice it you think? I've taken radios apart before and swapped parts so it'* nothing scary for me
